the water

the water by Korinn Annette Jefferies

Set during Freedom Summer 1964, the water follows three different stories as Black people leave their respective cities and states to travel to Florida’s beaches. The play explores the challenge of travel through the American South during segregation, our diasporic relationship to water, and the rich history of the establishments throughout Florida that served as hubs of leisure for Black travelers.
